species
All species are welcome at St. Jude's, so technically you could play a talking dog if that's what floats your boat. Every species, from vampires and werewolves and werecats to zombies, ghosts, wizards, orcs and elves and goblins, dwarves, mermaids, aliens.... the important thing is that you have to be able to give a satisfactory explanation for why this character has come to the academy. You must be able to explain who they are, where they're from, and what they're doing here. Then, this reason has to be accepted by a staff member, and you're good to go! You can roleplay your zebra centaur with angel wings and amethyst-coloured eyes to your heart's content.
magic
Remember, magic is WANING. That means your character does not have the power to destroy entire cities with a wave of their hand. In fact, they probably will have trouble creating even a small explosion. When describing what kind of magic your character can use -- which should be in the history section of your bio, if you're wondering where to put it -- please be specific. List the abilities and limits your character has, and make them reasonable. There will be no god-moding characters on this board, so if you create an all-powerful wizard you can force choke people and also heal injuries with their tears, they're just going to be rejected.

If you don't want to roleplay a gross teenager, then you can create a gross adult! Adults are usually teachers at St. Jude's, but naturally there's also room for custodians, guidance counselors, cafeteria workers, drug dealers, and homeless people who secretly live in the copse. Again, you must be able to explain how your character came to the academy and use your brilliant story-telling skills to convince the staff to accept your character.[/blockquote]
